Mockingjay

Alright, I had been waiting for the moment to read this forever. (Which in reality was something along 2 weeks, but still a LONG time) For those of you who have yet to discover the wonderful Hunger Game series, go out and read the first two books. In a summary it is about a world where 12 tributes are sent out in a fight to the death called "The Hunger Games" every year. The protagonist is Katniss Everdeen. Unlike most soppy heroines, she has dimension and strength, not relying on someone else. She takes the place of her sister and the book tells a tale of action and the fight for not only survival but for freedom. This theme is in the second book also, when she is sent back for the Quarter Quell.

The third book focuses mostly on the fact that they are fighting for freedom. It is heart-jerking, I cried half-way through, and I cried for 15 straight minutes at the end. My favorite characters almost seemed to betray me. Though I don't want to spoil anything for you by saying how or who. Finally, I was sad it ended, and frankly sad the WAY it ended. Still, I found it to be a good book, well worth reading.

On another subject, there will be The Hunger Games movie. Frankly, I'm not looking forward to it. It is one thing to read about people fighting to the death and another entirely to watch it. Then there comes the issue of what they will leave out and who will act.

So, read the books. They're good.
